In this informative 4 day workshop students will be exposed to a wide range of technical drawing skills and information as we cover the ins-and-outs of the entire process of creating a portrait drawing from life. For centuries master draftsmen have utilized careful observation, understanding, and carefully honed methodology in order to create beautiful, intimate portraits. Focusing on a traditional, methodical approach to drawing, Coulter Prehm will lead students along the path to creating a successful portrait drawing in graphite, focusing heavily on step by step approach, mark making, understanding light and form, and how to achieve a likeness in a drawing. Each morning will begin with a demonstration from the model, followed by an afternoon session where students will implement techniques and ideas expressed in the morning. Over the first 3 days students will work on completing a single finished portrait, with the 4th day dedicated to creating a separate portrait drawing over the entirety of the day. Join us for an exciting time of intensive study and learn what it takes to bring classical skills and understanding into contemporary portrait art!

Registration Deadline is October 22, 2025.
