This course teaches how to use watercolor and photography to create quick colorful sketches of wild animals. You will learn how to see contrasting shapes & desirable animal positions to take better photos. We will review basic guidelines to develop compelling compositions and great sketches. We will visit the zoo and photograph the animals in their environment, then work in the studio to convey personal impressions of your favorite animals. You will learn to improve and apply brushstroke skills to capture and utilize the beauty of transparent watercolors.

We will have regular instruction and demonstrations, with generous class time for student painting and individual constructive critique. This course is helpful for students at any level, although prior drawing and painting experience is recommended.

Please sign up early; class size is limited to 12 students.
