Claude Monet stated, “I perhaps owe having become a painter to flowers and gardens.” And, Edward Hopper said, “All I ever wanted to do was to paint sunlight on the side of a house.” We are going to combine these two concepts and follow in the steps of a variety of famous painters of figures in the garden during this weeklong workshop. We will have two different models clothed in white, one for the morning session and the other for the afternoon due to the movement of sunlight. I will contact each participant with the directions to the beautiful local garden here in Albuquerque where we will be painting. There will be demos and discussions in:
You will learn to plan, produce and edit a small color sketch to use as a road map for your 2 larger paintings, therefore creating a greater pathway to success. Together we will discuss what drew such greats as Sorolla, Zorn, Manet, Morisot, Cassatt and others to create such beautiful paintings of a figure in the garden that continue to speak to us today. (I am asking that anyone participating in this workshop have had his or her Covid shots. Thank you.)
Please sign up early; class size is limited.
