Brian O'Connor: Painting as a Second Language

Join artist Brian O’Connor in a three-day painting workshop that will explore the potential for metaphor in painting. Brian teaches a layered approach to making a painting, breaking down the complex process into simpler steps. Students will learn application techniques that include alla prima, wet-into-wet, glazing and scumbling as well as adjusting edge quality, relative color and value to create desired illusions of light, weight and space. Painting demonstrations,and individual and group critiques will all be used in support of expanding your painting language. Some experience with painting is helpful. Class size is limited, please sign up early.
