Let’s study color with objects rather than color charts! Experience the magic of color mixing as you fine-tune your innate color sense by painting a single-color subject. Your goal in this class is to become familiar with the expressive qualities of hue, saturation, value and temperature when it comes to each color. Every class will tackle a different color and it’s properties. Just because a subject is white, doesn’t mean you paint it white. The same principle applies to all colors on the color wheel. Have some fun when you collect and compose same color still lifes for these studies. Please limit your compositions to three objects as this is an alla prima class, and we will be moving to a different color and a new still life each week. My goal is to take the fear away from mixing color, so you will use it more freely and meaningfully in your future work. Make sure you bring a good palette knife. You will be using it as much or more than your brushes. This class will be conducted int the Art League studios.
Please sign up early; class size is limited to 12 students.
