Learn how to draw the figure in charcoal and pastel from observation. Class topics will cover how to measure the figure accurately, create volume in light and shading using vine charcoal and charcoal pencil, and how to create a rich color palette of flesh tones with pastel.Technique and materials usage will be discussed at length, along with a daily demonstration. The goal of this class is to bring to the student a cohesive understanding on how to work from the figure with successful results and learning to take control of the medium. We will be working from live models at each class session.  You will learn to make your own pastel primer. You will learn how to work on different pastel surfaces, achieving a variety of surface effects. Come ready to draw on day one! This will be an energetic, informative class.
