Creative Children's Picture Book Illustration with Pamela Barcita (Thursdays)

If you have ever dreamed of creating a children’s book featuring your drawings, this is the class for you! Join children’s book author and illustrator, Pamela Barcita in a fantastic journey into the world of picture book illustration. Pamela will take the students through the entire process of design, laying out and creating a unique picture book. This will be a holistic approach in which the parts are interconnected and explained by reference to the whole. Starting with each student's favorite picture book, we will explore why it stands out among the rest and what about this particular book sparks interest. Using Pamela’s books and illustrations as examples, we will look at different techniques that are the most effective for this subject. Pamela will cover the basics of book sizes, shapes and length, as well as standard set-up - title page, copyright/dedication page, story pages, back pages and cover. Weekly topics will include page layout, thumbnails with division of text, composition, character studies, a dummy book and sample illustrations. What fun! Students at all levels are welcome.
