Join professional framer (and printmaker), Maria Lilly, as she demystifies the process of framing. Presenting your work in a beautiful and aesthetic way is the final and very important step before your work is displayed in public. Frames can increase the value and visually enhance the artwork. After all the work you put into creating your piece, it is worth the extra time and effort to make the right decisions about presentation. Should I sign my piece on the front? Why do some frames look better than others? How wide should a mat be? How do you make sure that the frame is not overpowering the piece? What does archival mean? Is glass better than plexi for UV protection? All of these questions and more will be answered by Maria as she demostrates the construction of a wood framed piece with a mat. She will also discuss basic photography standards, copyright, provenance of artwork and how to catalog and label your work. Bring a notebook and pen to take notes!
Please sign up early; class size is limited.
