Join artist/printmaker extraordinaire, Maria Lilly, for this fun adventure into the world of printmaking! Drypoint etching is a printmaking technique that is closer to drawing as opposed to carving with woodcut and linocut. Rembrandt, Picasso, Goya and Mary Cassatt were just a few artists that enjoyed this method. A scribe is used to draw the image onto the plate. Ink is then applied with a spatula or knife. Next, we take tarlatan or cheesecloth to wipe the ink down to the drawing. The print is then made with slightly damp paper and put through the press. Variations can be made on this process using different tools and inks. Prints can be water colored when dry.

Please sign up early; class size is limited.
