Portrait Painting Intensive in Oils with Coulter Prehm (Monday through Friday)

Learn to paint a finished portrait in oil in this intensive, 5 day course! Portrait painting is an exciting tradition that has been practiced by artists for centuries as a vehicle, not only for study and/or commissions, but also as one of the most effective modes of expression and communication. For 5 full days students will learn about the process involved in creating a successful portrait painting including: composition, technical drawing skills, oil paint materials and usage, and much discussion on the many facets of information specific to creating a portrait (e.g. Anatomy, painting/drawing different features, expression, color mixing, etc.). Each student will spend the entire course going through the process of creating 1 finished oil painting from a live model. Each morning Colt will demonstrate, break for lunch, then students will get the afternoon to work on their own piece, supplemented by one-on-one instruction.
