Sketching the Urban Landscape with VASILI KATAKIS offers the challenge of integrating man made objects with mother natures’. classes will take place in historic Ridgecrest where some of the oldest, and contemporary examples of southwest architecture can be found as well as on the University of New Mexico campus. Classes will alternate and take place on the Zoom platform where student’s work will be reviewed, where Vasili will conduct demos, and show other’s examples. We will conclude with a scale-up of one the student's sketches into a refined drawing or painting. Course topics include: structures, shrubs & trees, sketching techniques, basic linear perspective, intuitive perspective, Notan, light & shadow, etc. This course will benefit the beginner as well as seasoned artists. All safety precautions will be observed at each on-location class, including masks & social distancing.
